Safeguarding

Safeguarding at Beit Shvidler Primary School

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility – together we keep children safe.

At Beit Shvidler, keeping our children safe, happy and well cared for is at the centre of everything we do. When parents entrust their children to us, we know they are placing in our hands the most precious part of their lives and we take that responsibility very seriously.

What Safeguarding Means to Us:
Safeguarding is about making sure that every child feels safe, supported and able to thrive, both inside and outside the classroom. It covers many areas, including:
• Protection from harm – making sure children are safe from any form of abuse or neglect.
• A safe environment – ensuring the school is a secure and welcoming place to learn and play.
• Online safety – helping children use the internet and technology responsibly.
• Wellbeing and care – supporting children’s emotional and mental health, so that they can flourish.

How We Keep Children Safe:
• All staff receive safeguarding training, with annual updates in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025.
• Volunteers and supply staff are also reminded of our safeguarding expectations before working with children.
• We have a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and deputy leads who are always available if a child, parent or staff member needs support.
• When recruiting new staff, we follow strict procedures to make sure everyone who works here is safe and suitable.
• We work closely with parents and, where needed, outside professionals to make sure children get the help they need.

Who to Contact:
If you ever have a concern about a child’s safety or wellbeing, please contact:
• DSL – Mrs Beverley Blake (Deputy Headteacher and SENCO)
b.blake@beitshvidler.org.uk | 020 8238 2746
• Deputy DSL – Mrs Leah Glick (Headteacher)
• Deputy DSL – Mr Jair Sanders (Kodesh Teacher)
• Safeguarding Governor – Mrs Jenny Wilks

You can approach any of them directly, or speak to any member of staff, who will make sure your concern is passed on straight away.

Working Together with Parents
Safeguarding works best when home and schoolwork hand in hand. We encourage parents to keep open and honest conversations with their children, so that if a child ever feels worried or unsafe, they will feel comfortable speaking directly to their parents.
For further advice and helpful resources about keeping children safe, parents are encouraged to visit the NSPCC website.

Our Promise
Our promise to you is simple: at Beit Shvidler, your child’s safety and happiness come first. We want every child to feel secure, cared for and confident to enjoy their learning journey with us.
